Payment Terms

Pay on arrival. Direct Payment by Customer to the Thrifty Rent A Car
Counter.

Monthly Rentals

Fixed monthly rate will apply for hire period between 25 -30 days, pro
rata is not applicable. Advance payment is mandatory. Early car
return will automatically cancel the monthly plan and respective
weekly or daily charge will apply

Insurance excess

This is mandatory and will be charged as below for all cases where
hirer is at fault:
* Group MDAR – Group SDAR: AED 1100
* Group FDAR – Group FFAR: AED 2200
* Group MFAR: AED 1100
In the event of Hit & Run cases or accident client at fault, full excess
amount will be charge.
* Police report is mandatory for all accidents and breakdowns.
* No off-road insurance is provided as off-roading is not
allowed.
* Full repair charges will be charged to client in the absence of
police report.
* Customer will be charged “Loss of Rental” charges in the
case of vehicle being impounded by Government
Authorities/Police for any reason.

Abu Dhabi Accident report

Abu Dhabi traffic department/police has an additional charge for an
accident report which needs to be paid by renter, as follows:
* AED 330 when the renter is at fault
* AED 75 when a third party is at fault
These charges are over and above the Insurance Excess charge.

Security

Front side copy of credit card of the hirer of the vehicle with minimum
validity of 3 months. If this is not available then Thrifty reserves the
right to refuse the rental. This is mandatory. Preauthorization on the
credit card to cover the estimated cost of the rental will be taken.

Petrol Policy

The hirer needs to return the vehicle with the same fuel level as to
when it was hired. Otherwise a locally determined refueling charge
will apply.

Airport off-hire charges

Applicable at the Thrifty off-hire counter at the Airport. Presently the charge is Dubai Airports/ Maktoum Airport AED 50, Sharjah Airport- AED 25 and Abu Dhabi Airport- AED 25 to be paid by hirer. This charge is subject to change without prior notice.

Rental Qualifications

For all rentals for UAE, the customer must hold an international
driving license from the country on whose passport the customer is
traveling. This is applicable for all nationalities except for GCC Driving
license holders.

Driving License Qualification

UAE residents require a UAE license. Visitors should present a valid
national and international driving license from their country of origin .
Thrifty Rent A Car recommends visiting www.rta.ae and
www.dubaipolice.gov.ae for time to time updates.

Additional driver charge

Available at additional cost. However, in addition to the hirer’s
document, the passport copy and driving license is also required of
the second driver.

MDAR-CDAR - 15(per day) , 80(per week), 100(per month)
MFAR - 15(per day), 80(per week), 100(per month)
IDAR - SDAR - 20(per day), 100(per week), 150(per month)
FDAR - FFAR - 25(per day), 125(per week), 200(per month)

Driving restrictions

* Driving is on the right side of the road.
* Vehicles are prohibited to be used for racing, towing other
vehicles, or any activity that is considered against the UAE
laws.
* Vehicles are prohibited to be driven while under the influence
of alcohol or drugs.
* Vehicles are prohibited to be used for off-roading –
INCLUDING 4WD VEHICLES
* Emergency road services are available—enquire at rental
counter for further details.

Non-coverage

* Loss of or damage to personal belongings or luggage is not
insured
* Customer will be held responsible for any misuse to the
vehicle or any part of it.
* In case of accident, excess amount will be charged as per
insurance excess details mentioned above.

Breakdown procedure

Please try to park the vehicle in safe and secure place. Try to know
exactly where you are.
Contact our nearest office or Toll Free number 800 4770. Try to give
them details of break down type. A replacement vehicle will be sent. A
Service Fee will apply for replacement of the spare tyre.

Toll Fees

AED 5/- per toll gate crossing (As per existing Toll rates)

Parking Fees

Payable by hirer directly at parking meter.

Fines

Will be charged to hirer and a 10% service charge will apply plus the
knowledge fee imposed by the Government.

Driving across border

* Thrifty Dubai & Northern Emirates: Driving to Oman is not
Permitted. Hirers must use vehicle in UAE only.

* Thrifty Abu Dhabi: Driving to Oman is permitted subject to
pre-approvals. The client has to get proper documents from
Thrifty Car Rental at extra cost. The charges applied are AED
250 for Daily and Weekly rentals and AED 350 for monthly
rentals by obtaining NOC in advance.

Delivery / collection charges

* Within the respective Emirates the charge of AED 50 will
apply. Except for Abu Dhabi to Al Ain/ Ruwais Inter Emirates
charges shall apply.
* Inter Emirates charge of up to AED 225 shall apply.

One way charges

  • Pickup Dubai (Non-Airports) and drop-off to Dubai (Non-Airports) will be AED 20
  • Pickup Sharjah/Northern Emirates and drop-off to Sharjah/Northern Emirates AED 20
  • Pickup Dubai and drop off to Sharjah/Northern Emirates will be AED 50
  • Pickup Sharjah/Northern Emirates and drop-off to Dubai (Non-Airports) will be AED 50
  • Any car taken from Dubai Airport and off hired outside airports will be AED 50
  • Pickup Dubai/ Sharjah/Northern Emirates and drop-off to Abu Dhabi/Al Ain or vice versa will be charged AED 225/-
  • Pickup Dubai/ Sharjah/Northern Emirates and drop-off to Ruwais Mall AED 400

Chauffeur service

Not available.

Car return policy

* Needs to be returned to Thrifty location only during location
working hours( see location list for working hours)
* Only 1 hour late return grace period is allowed.

Baby Seat charge

Per day AED 35/-; per week AED 175/-; per week AED 500/-;
Needs to be booked in advance. Subject to availability.

GPS charge

Per day AED 40/-; per week AED 185/-; per month AED 513/-.
Needs to be booked in advance. Subject to availability.

Blackout Dates

Holidays, Shopping Festivals and selected exhibitions/events are very
high peak periods. Free allocation will be subject to availability and
confirmation from Thrifty Car Rental during these blackout periods.

No show/ Cancellation
Charges

* Cancellation charges: Will be waived off for all bookings
which are notified with minimum 48 hours in advance.
* No Shows: One day rental based on vehicle type booked will
be charged.

Stop Sale

Thrifty Car Rental is responsible to give a prior notice for Stop Sale
requests.

In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. Liability

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier’s rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed.

A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Amendments
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Car rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 25.00
To add or remove extras to/from a confirmed booking: 10.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.

Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
